Local Priorities Dog Fouling Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Dog Fouling, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

🐕 South Wales Police – Dog Owners: Know the Law

We’d like to remind all dog owners of the importance of keeping your pets under control while out in public.

In Wales, it is a legal requirement to keep your dog on a lead in certain areas — including on roads, pavements, and designated public spaces such as parks or beaches where local bylaws are in place. Allowing your dog to roam freely in these areas could result in a fine or prosecution.

It’s also an offence for a dog to be dangerously out of control, even if it doesn’t bite or injure anyone. If your dog causes fear or injury to a person or another animal, you could face serious legal consequences.

We want everyone, dog owners and the public to enjoy outdoor spaces safely and respectfully. If you’re unsure where leads are required, check local council signage or Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) in your area.

Let’s work together to keep our communities safe and pleasant for all. 🐾
